Diverse Day Camp Programs

Summer adventures begin at an early age at the North Shore Country Day School. For 73 years, the Day Camp has provided enriching experiences.

The Day Camp’s diverse programs allow for all campers to try new activities in a setting where individual growth is fostered by a caring staff. The goal is to actively involve all campers while offering encouragement and support as they tackle new endeavors.

DEPOSITS
$500 per camp session is required with registration. This includes a $200 non-refundable and nontransferable application fee. The remaining balance is refundable until February 28, 2023.

Creative Play

This activity is geared for our campers ages 4 – 6 years. It is an exploration of singing, dancing, acting and role-playing. Campers participate as a group in a wide range of creative activities.

Outdoor Adventures
Outdoor Adventures

This program is for our campers ages 7 – 10 years and emphasizes an awareness of nature. As a group, campers learn skills that emphasize teamwork and trust. As a part of the program, campers are given instruction in rock climbing.

Tennis
Tennis

This activity is for campers ages 7-10. Campers will learn rules of the game, strokes, and competition. Skill work emphasized. No equipment needed.

Swimming Lessons

Everyone swims at the Day Camp! Using the National Safety Council’s “Learn to Swim” program, every camper—non-swimmer to competitive swimmer—receives exactly the right level of instruction. As campers gain confidence and skills, opportunities to advance to the next level are offered. Lessons are taught by certified counselors and staff. All children are supervised by certified lifeguards trained by Ellis & Associates, a private lifeguard training company. Campers need to pack a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen daily.

The Day Camp’s archery program is taught under the auspices of the Camp Archery Association. This program is for our campers ages 7 – 10 years. An emphasis on safety is an integral part of this program.

Program Details

Campers Ages 4-10 Years

Campers 4 – 10 years participate in a five-day a week program.

Full Day Session

All Day Camp program operates from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Group Setting

Campers are placed in a group with up to sixteen other children the same age and gender. Campers are supervised by a junior and senior counselor team. Senior counselors must be at least 18 years of age and have previous camp leadership experience. They will be assisted by a junior counselor who is at least 16 years of age.

Length of Stay Flexibility

The camp season is seven weeks. Parents may sign up for one or multiple sessions.

Extended Care

Morning program: 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Afternoon program: 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Land Activities

We offer group instruction in archery, arts & crafts, creative play, dance, gymnastics, outdoor adventures (includes rock climbing) and tennis. Offerings depend on age of camper.

Water Activities

We offer daily swim lessons in our on campus outdoor pool.

Sailing & Canoeing

Boating

Campers ages 8-10 will travel to Lloyd Beach in Winnetka twice a week for boating instruction. Campers will learn boating safety skills and how to canoe and sail. Our experienced lakefront boating staff have the latest safety and boating training.

Archery

Archery

The Day Camp’s archery program is taught under the auspices of the Camp Archery Association. This program is for our campers ages 7 – 10 years. An emphasis on safety is an integral part of this program.

Arts and Crafts

Group Activities

Each group leadership team plans a full day of activities for their campers. These activities focus on games and activities that build friendships and learn new skills. Each day campers will enjoy activities that focus on active play, traditional camp games, and passive activities that include crafts and other creative activities.

Everyone participates in arts & crafts. Age-appropriate projects keep the campers busy twice a week in this creative program.

Our gymnastics program is led by a qualified gymnastic instructor. Instruction is geared for our campers ages 4 – 6 years and emphasizes stretching, tumbling and low beam exercise.
